| Inspection of bridges |
|
In distinction from solid bridges, the inspection of wooden bridges in accordance to the DIN 1076 standard requires a different approach. Following the principle of the weakest link in the chain, vulnerable points of detail must be meticulously analysed. In order to do so, not only knowledge of engineering, but also experience in building biology is required to successfully recognize the strategies of destructive fungi and insects. Minor- and non-destructive inspection techniques are used as a supporting tool. After the static and timber inspections are finished, individually tailored redevelopment proposals are made. As a means to ensure the sustainability of our inspections, they include the correction of faulty wood preservation as well as suggestions for improvement, even when no damages could be found. |
